Why Whole Body MRI?
MRI uses a high-powered magnet to generate extremely precise images of the internal anatomy. The higher the magnetic field strength, the better the diagnostic resolution and sensitivity.
FIRSTSCAN™ has the only 3T MRI outside of the hospital systems in the region and has further optimized its performance and efficiency for Whole Body Scanning using specialized MRI antenna developed by ScanMed, a leading MRI antenna developer right here in Omaha.
The purpose of whole body MRI is to provide the early detection of suspicious, significant problems and if these are identified, you and your physicians will be notified in the radiologist report. Catching diseases early can help refine or further reduce diagnostics, treatment planning, and medical expenses.
How Does Well Body MRI™ Work?
First, you will make an appointment at FirstScan™ at your convenience. When you arrive, you can wear your own athletic gear or workout pants with no zippers or we’ll issue a set of scrubs. Then you will consult with our MRI technologist who will walk you through the procedure.
During the scan, you will lie on a comfortable MRI bed outfitted with a variety of optimized antenna, listen to your choice of music, and be scanned for approximately 90 minutes with a break or two as needed for your comfort. When the scan is complete, your physician will be sent a radiology report typically within 72 hours after your exam.
